 Opportunities for Involvement

Precinct Organizer

One of the most important positions within a political party.

Precinct Organizers are voting Democratic Party officials at the local level elected to serve as the party leader in the precinct. When precincts are organized, the Democratic vote is maximized and our candidates win elections.

Any registered Democrat residing in the precinct is eligible to serve.

Precinct Organizers serve as the link between our local party and the voters. They develop relationships with their neighbors and keep them informed about elections and candidates. They create a community of Democrats that can be a driving force in elections.

The commitment is self-determining. Anything from a few hours a month to several hours a day. It is entirely up to the Precinct Organizer.

To become a Precinct Organizer, attend a DEC meeting to learn more.

Grassroots Volunteers

These are the folks that make elections happen. Through phone-banking, door-to-door canvassing, texting, literature distribution, and community outreach, these volunteers are the voice of our party. They register voters, educate them on ballot measures, and inform them about candidates and upcoming elections. This is where election work gets done.

Leadership

For our volunteers with experience and special skills, there are other impactful positions available. Coordinators for our grassroots efforts, communication directors for social and traditional media, candidate campaign support, and fundraising are all rewarding ways to expand the impact of your involvement from a few people to thousands of people.

Volunteer Opportunities

When you are ready to get involved, you will likely want to get started right away. The St. Lucie County Democrats have a robust volunteer program that provides many opportunities regardless of experience level. Maybe you have volunteered on campaigns before, maybe not. Either way, we have events suited for you and, for some activities, we provide trainings. Click the “Volunteer” button below to visit our Volunteer Opportunities page and choose from a list of upcoming scheduled events. We update the list regularly as more activities are scheduled.

Each activity allows a volunteer to register through the Mobilize program. If you have registered before, you are already part of the Mobilize community and likely receive weekly emails of upcoming activities. If this will be your first time registering with the Democratic Party, you will register through Mobilize and become part of a community of Democratic and progressive volunteers working every day to make a more perfect union. As part of that community, you will have access to search all events scheduled through Mobilize nationwide and receive weekly emails of upcoming events in your area. Mobilize is how we organize and organizing is how we win.

We are excited that you have decided to start your journey in politics and look forward to working with you soon!
